Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse Reflection

INSIGHT on Behavior

In the practice of INSIGHT, one of our core intentions is to understand why we do what we do. As INSIGHT Facilitators, we guide practitioners into deeper inquiry, looking beneath the surface to uncover the thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that drive our actions. Even our most routine behaviors often reflect something more dynamic within us.

Over three decades of study in yoga, meditation, psychodynamics, and contemplative practices, I gradually developed and codified a framework that blends teachings and practices from multiple wisdom traditions. INSIGHT moves beyond the surface, connecting us to the essential wisdom within the body, mind, heart, spirit, and soul.

The irony is that I thought INSIGHT was created solely to help others. In reality, my own INSIGHT inquiry over this past year became an essential part of my healing through stage four cancer. While immunotherapy, myofascial release, acupuncture, and nutrition all played vital roles, I believe the most crucial element in my healing was uncovering the reservoir of fear I had carried for four decades and finally making peace with it.

Looking back, I can see that much of my professional life, while filled with extraordinary moments, was fueled by underlying fears. I spent years ensuring everyone else was cared for, jumping through hoops to sustain or create harmony, all while neglecting the part of myself that needed attention and genuine connection.

When I finally engaged with those fears and allowed myself the space to truly experience them and then the space to heal them, I experienced a dynamic shift in my behavior and a significant growth in my ability to be there for myself and others.

I’m grateful for those decades of tension—they inspired me to create INSIGHT. Now, with more of myself online, I am in a deeper, more compassionate relationship with the vulnerable part of my heart that has carried so much fear for so long. That is one of the greatest gifts from this cancer journey.

On this full moon, I offer this story as a reminder that we all carry feelings we may not be ready to face. Yet, if we slow down and give ourselves the care and attention of checking in, we may discover a pathway to a part of ourselves that has been waiting for us to ask the simple question, “What do you need?”

INSIGHT Inquiry:

Take a moment today to pause and create a quiet moment to reflect—are there any feelings or needs you have been avoiding? What might your body, mind, and heart have to say about things when you create space to truly listen?

By slowing down and extending this kind of embodied compassion to yourself, you may uncover a hidden wisdom or insight just waiting to be heard.

We’d love to hear any insights or inspirations that come from your practice!

With love,
Kevin
